For his first solo exhibition at HELMRINDERKNECHT, emerging Australian lighting designer Flynn Talbot (*1981) has developed a brand new interactive light product called X&Y. The object allows people to touch and control the power of the light. This not only creates a personal but also a very sensory experience. X&Y is not just an exploration of colour but, more importantly, it encourages the user to choose their own desired lighting effect.

The design of X&Y is deliberately minimal, making the light effect the central focus. The hand-blown opal glass sphere can be moved to determine the intensity and colour of the light from the illuminated polished brass base. The sphere produces light in a range of cool to warm white tones and a full colour spectrum. X&Y functions remarkably simple with

no dimmers, no switches, no remote control, no instructions.

Für seine erste Einzelausstellung bei HELMRINDERKNECHT hat der junge australische Lichtdesigner Flynn Talbot (*1981) ein interaktives Lichtobjekt entwickelt, dessen Lichtstärke und -farbe durch einfache Berührung und Drehung verändert werden können. Dies ermöglicht einen individuellen und gleichzeitig auch sinnlichen Zugang zum Licht. X&Y, wie Talbot sein Objekt nennt, leuchtet nicht nur in der gesamten Bandbreite des Farben- und Weisstonspektrums, sondern fordert den Benutzer aktiv auf, den von ihm gewünschten Lichteffekt selber zu wählen.

Das äussere Design von X&Y hat Flynn Talbot bewusst auf ein Minimum reduziert, um die ganze Aufmerksamkeit auf die Lichteffekte zu konzentrieren. Die handgeblasene Glaskugel ist mit dem Messingsockel, von dem sie getragen wird und in dem sich die gesamte Technik befindet, nicht verbunden. Sie liegt auf einem Filzring und lässt sich mit einer leichten Berührung in jede Richtung drehen.Mit seiner simplen Funktionsweise überzeugt X&Y sowohl ästhetisch als auch funktional, denn X&Y funktioniert

ohne Schalter, ohne Dimmer, ohne Fernbedienung, ohne Anleitung.

Die White / Gold Edition von X&Y ist auf eine strikt limitierte Auflage von 8+2AP begrenzt. Jedes Objekt ist in vollständiger Handarbeit entstanden und ist vom Designer jeweils individuell nummeriert und signiert. Masse: ∅ 50x 54,5 cm
